Ag Plastics Baling Demonstration, Wednesday July 9

Clinton County Soil and Water Conservation District is getting a Big Foot Baler, so the farmers in our county can start recycling their agricultural plastics such as bale wrap, silage covers, pesticide containers, greenhouse plastics, and maple tubing. The demonstration starts at 10am. Come see how farmers in our area are striving to be more environmentally friendly by condensing agricultural plastics into dense bales for recycling. Call the Clinton County office at 518.561.7450 for more information and details about the location.

Plattsburgh Farmers Market, Saturday July 12

Our Master Gardener Volunteers will be at the July 12th Plattsburgh Farmers Market from 9:00am - noon to answer questions, have live demonstrations, and provide the farmer's market shoppers with helpful information. This month’s special topic will be native plants.

Tomato Staking Demonstration, Tuesday July 15

John Mishanac, the regional Integrated Pest Management specialist, will be on-hand to talk about the advantages of staking tomato plants. This talk will take place at a local farm and will focus on the Florida weave tomato staking method, which is geared towards medium to large scale tomato production (25+ plants). The workshop will be from 6:30pm—8:30pm. For more information or to register, please call the Clinton County office at 518.561.7450. Directions to the farm will be given at the time of registration.

Cooperative Extension At The Clinton County Fair, Tuesday—Sunday July 22-27

Stop by the Master Gardener Volunteers' display in the Farm and Family Building at the Clinton County Fair on July 22-26. This year we've really spiced things up with a flower garden and a vegetable garden, live demonstrations, and free give a ways. While you are at the fair, also look for the Adirondack Harvest/Farm Bureau booth where you can learn about Clinton County agriculture and the advantages of buying locally grown and produced food. We encourage you to stop by to view our informative, beautiful display and try a sample of local foods. And, of course there is the 4-H building with many displays and the dairy bar. Stop by our many displays - you won’t be disappointed.

Plattsburgh Farmers Market, Saturday August 9
